Food:
Akrennians are omnivorous creatures because they have molars, canines, and incisors like humans. I do believe that a tradditional Akrennian dish might be something like smaller creatures that are similar in size to rabbits, or large insects.
They usually live in a warm to dry climate, and would probably use some spices and herbs on thier foods aswell.
Tradional Habits/Customs:
Akrennians always threaten before they ask a favour. It is like a culture/tradition. All slave traders know this.
Slave auctions are secretive...when they're not on P'lochda. When they are, they are a little more accessible/easy to find.
It's kind of like how India tried to revise the caste system: it's illegal to treat someone like an untouchable, but it's still slow progress. That's what would be happening with Akrennians and the slave trade. They are saying they don't do it, and they try not to do it, but it does still happen, albeit at a decreasing rate.
Planet Name: P'lodchda
Environments: Red desert fading into grassland which goes into deciduous forest and then into tropical jungle. The coasts all around are coated in black sand (volcanic leftovers). The ocean is also red due to high rust content and is poisonous to most life. Likewise, lakes and rivers nearest the ocean are also quite toxic due to seeping. When the water of the ocean evaporates it rains down in a distilled form, and is further filtered by the plants native to the planet. This is how animals on P'lodchda get water, through the plants. However, the plants have evolved to the point that most of them are also capable of eating animals. The desert lacks the predatory plants, but the plants living there are so few and far between they are treasured and almost revered.
Continents: There is only one continent on P'lodchda. At one end, it is desert and at the other it is tropical rainforest (on the equator). It is rimmed in black, which are the beaches on the coast. The rainforest portion is highly populated, and the largest city, Creethe, is located there.
Oceans and Seas: One ocean. Rah'sina. Roughly translates as "poison water," though in an older dialect.
Religion: There are six different religions akrennians follow, though most of them are forgetting their roots and rarely attend to their temples anymore. Priesthood and religious attendants are becoming a very small influence on the public.
Customs: Akrennians are traders at heart. Most of them know how to weasle their way out of a bad situation one way or another just by cultural influence. They also have a few strange customs, such as always threatening before asking a favor. The threat is rarely serious, though one has to think twice before neglecting to grant the favor. Creethe is ripe with traders, and this is where most of the slave trading industry got it's roots. That is why akrennians have a reputation for being slave traders, though it isn't true of all of them.
All akrennians, regardless of race, have adopted the clan system. An akrennian is born into a clan, usually the fathers, but if the mother's clan has a higher status then the baby is born into her clan. They cannot claim both. Clans can have good or bad standing in the public eye depending on the general quality of the families within it. When a (usually) female akrennian takes a mate, she belongs to her mate's clan, though she can still say that she came from her original clan.
A clan is not like a last name. It's more like belonging to a club, when said out loud. Such as "I am Yavin of Serka Clan."
Languages: There are five dialects still in use and several dead languages on record. Most languages used in their religious practices are forbidden from use in anything but ceremonies. There is a much simplified language which was used when Akrennians were transitioning into space, which is called Akrennian basic. It is their translation of the basic alphabet into sounds easier for them to pronounce.
Historical: Akrennian history is ripe with both violent wars and political scandals. In the earliest times races were seperated and very predjudice, and as a result over several hundred years they fought war after war over territory as they conflicted over time when populations grew. Eventually the races signed a treaties and joined forces. The resulting conflict drove back the Rachta, which at the time had the largest population, and forced them to conceed defeat. The Rachta lost almost half it's population and that is part of the reason furred akrennians are less common. Eventually the races grew more tolerant of each other and mixed racial children became commonplace.
Space travel for akrennians was achieved over four hundred years ago.
Technological: Akrennian technology tends to have a clunky look to it, more because they are concerned with making things quickly and practically than a lack of asthetics. Asthetics are reserved more for personal dwellings rather than tools, in the minds of the general population.
